Promises to simplify elderly care not kept, say MPs | Politics | The Guardian.
For me, the UK Coalition Government’s real achievements continue to look a bit shabby. This is the latest evidence from an influential Select Committee, on the Government’s record as far as the elderly is concerned.
I have been rather critical of this UK Government on this blog because it has been simply offering increased austerity but has no real strategy and transformation agenda in many areas of policy. For example, what happened to the promised growth to offset austerity? Also the pain has fallen disproportionately – for example, austerity has not yet caught up with bankers’ bonuses.
