Personally, I support more quantitative easing but it is no substitute for a policy shift from the UK Government. Austerity is not working, nor are companies and individuals spending – they are frightened. The right policy response is huge stimulus to increase corporate and personal investment. I fear that George Osborne will impale, both himself and the UK, with the point of his austerity stick.

The “bulls” seem to still be in the sunshine, with further upside potential if policy-makers and central banks provide stimulus. On the other hand, there are still many downside risks, and bad news is always on the horizon. No doubt the hedge funds are still active too, betting on potential major news events.
