The Spiegel article is not prescriptive about whether increased support is required from the ECB or from policy-makers but it is clear that the ECB’s interest rate decision will be very marginal. I sense that markets might be a bit nervous for a few days.

Here are a few questions after reading this depressing article:

  1. The reality is surely that the elderly are only one step away from being abandoned by the Public Care system?
  2. Why are the UK public accepting this shoddy treatment of senior citizens from the Coalition Government’s policies on care for the aged?
  3. Surely, the aged are entitled to at least a half an hour a day of public help?
