This is a really interesting article from Bruce Bartlett, the former policy advisor to Presidents Reagan and George HW Bush, in the Economix blog of the NYT.. Check it out!

The article explains why the 2008 stimulus programme in the US was not more effective. He suggests that future stimulus measures need to be more focussed on consumption and investment. With Europe desperately in need of stimulus, there are some good learning points here for policy makers.
