As I read the article the following questions came to mind:

  1. Will we see negative interest rates from the ECB in the next twelve month?
  2. Will we see negative interest rates from the Bank of England in the next twelve month?
  3. What are the wider implications of negative interest rates?

The data refers to the US but it would be interesting to speculate on the international implications. Here are some questions that come to mind:

  1. Would comparable trends be seen in Europe, perhaps, considering separately UK, Ireland, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Greece, France and Germany?
  2. How have European Governments responded with policy options to protect the vulnerable older and younger generations?
