Health-care reform: Feeling your pain | The Economist.

When I was in China, I became aware that healthcare in prosperous cities like Shanghai and Beijing was much more readily available than in smaller cities or the countryside where traditional Chinese medicine is still a first choice. The Economist story is set in Shanghai where the standards are among the best in China; so this puts the challenge of Chinese healthcare reform into wider context.

As people grumble about the NHS in the UK or healthcare in the US under President Obama, spare a thought for the critically ill in China!
