This is an interesting article in the Gulf Times and worth a read. Check it out!

via Cyprus gas has a major role in weakening Russia exports.

The article focuses on Cyprus being able to provide 40% of Europe’s gas needs in the decades ahead in direct competition to Russia.

German voters prior to the polls in September should remember that Russia threatened to turn the gas off in depths of Winter. Perhaps, it is time for Germany to take a more outward view on Southern Europe, especially Cyprus.

The troika of the ECB, IMF and the EC gave Cyprus a particularly tough deal a few months ago, acting as a proxy for Germany. Cyprus and her citizens will have long memories of the economic and social damage caused by excessive austerity. It is time for an olive branch, in my view, perhaps supporting investment in Cyprus?

Any views?
