Once again austerity is under attack. Chancellor George Osborne continues to apply the bacon-slicer, effectively top-slicing budgets available to the public sector. There is no overarching vision, cohesive, umbrella strategy, and effective means of execution. Front-line services continue to be slashed, in the name of austerity. Every self-respecting economist and belatedly the IMF has criticized George Osborne austerity cuts as excessive given the absence of growth in the economy. Despite, all of this, there is huge waste in the public sector and social benefits are widely abused by those who are dishonest and lazy.
Personally, I think that Defense spending should be given more priority than international aid by the current Government.
