The article focuses on UK exports to China which are under-performing other major economies. The article concludes that as China becomes a more consumer oriented society there will be greater opportunities for the UK.
Sadly, British exports to China have also been hit directly by policies of David Cameron’s Government. David Cameron himself has upset the Chinese leadership. Chancellor Osborne places no priority on increasing exports, for example, tax relief for learning Mandarin. Visa requirements are discouraging students who prefer Australia or the US. Wealthy Chinese shoppers prefer Paris being off-put by reception and poor service at Heathrow.
