Most of Europe has huge economic challenges but in France they are much larger; France continues to delude herself that the old ways can be perpetuated. Unfortunately, France is probably heading for a major financial crisis unless the French Government changes direction. The French Public Sector and high taxation are not sustainable.

Personally, I think that US consumers need a belt and braces approach, both strong fiscal stimulus AND access to cheap money.

What lessons can Europeans learn from the US example?

Given the weaker economic recovery in Europe, especially the UK and Southern Europe, where austerity has been too aggressive, the double whammy of tax cuts and cheap money becomes a “no-brainer”, in my view,
