This short piece by John Rentoul, published in the Independent’s Eagle Eye Blog is a MUST READ, in my view. Check it out!

Sadly, under David Cameron‘s leadership, the UK Conservative PARTY no longer seems to represent traditional conservative views.

Any thoughts?

  1. I’m extremely inspired with your writing skills and also with the structure to your weblog.

Is that this a paid theme or did you modify it yourself?
Either way keep up the nice high quality writing, it’s uncommon to see a
nice weblog like this one nowadays..

  3. John Rentoul makes a good point but it is worse than that.

Now we have a Labour Party and a Conservative Party who have policies which are not conservative but which have very little substantive differences between them.

The Liberal Democrats are an irrelevance which means that anyone earning less than £250,000 gbp a year is effectively disenfranchised.

We have now learnt that Prince Charles, the heir to the throne, has secret meetings with Government Ministers and writes letters lobbying for things like homeopathic medicine, changes to building regulations and measures to tackle “Climate Change”, something which does not exist and which our major competitors in India, China and America regard as nonsense.

In addition to this, unseemly meddling by a man who pays less tax than his butler, we have 75% of our laws made in the EU and very soon new birth certificates are going to be emblazoned with the EU flag.
Effectively then, we are run at arms length by Angela Merkel who heads Germany, the EU powerhouse with additional meddling from Prince Charles, plus of course, the series of instructions given by the Sovereign to the Prime Minister every week.

Our votes now count for next to nothing, Judeo Christian values have been traduced despite being the basis for English Common Law and Magna Carta, our birthright is being squandered by out of control borders and no-one speaks for voters any more.

Nigel Farage tries, but he is yet to formulate better, more embracing policies and some of his candidates need to look and sound a lot better if he is to make headway or hold the balance of power in the 2015 election.

    • John,

Many thanks for this thoughtful response.

I agree with you that both the Labour and Conservative parties have lost their way, and the Liberals are not significant.

However, I disagree that the Royal family have meddled in UK policy. They are entitled to their views and to share them.

My biggest disagreement is over Nigel Farage and the UKIP. For me, this is a far-right party and the UK has had a strong history in rejecting the far-right.

This thread links closely with a blog which I have written this morning which is much more far-reaching and disturbing:

As usual your thoughts on the latest blog would be appreciated
