I respect the BoA statement and independent review but personally feel that’s not enough. As I indicated in both my first and second blogs on this tragic story, there is an urgent need for legal protection, holding senior executives accountable; this point was also supported by John Gelmini’s blog.

Any thoughts?

This article from Spiegel is a RECOMMENDED READ, this weekend.

Germany Deviates from France and Asserts Itself on Foreign Policy – SPIEGEL ONLINE.

Despite austerity and a Socialist government, France is ready to intervene in Syria. We have seen elsewhere that the US is getting closer to military intervention. Meanwhile, Spiegel gives us some excellent insights into emerging German foreign policy.

Personally, I think that the case for military intervention in Syria is getting close to overwhelming, especially if the alleged circa one thousand deaths from chemical weapons this week by the Assad regime are independently confirmed.

Let me turn this to an open question:

How can Germany‘s diplomatic initiatives be enough to stop the Assad regime, if widespread use of chemical weapons is confirmed?

Any thoughts?
