This is an interesting piece of research published in the Social Europe Journal. It’s a STRONGLY RECOMMENDED READ, in my view.

Unlike Detroit Chicago’s Diversified Industrial Base Has Helped It To Succeed.

It’s interesting to compare the Chicago Vs. Detroit analogy to many Northern cities in the UK and to speculate why so many UK cities are probably closer to Detroit than Chicago; I sense that ineffective and narrow-minded Local Authorities, with their changing political masters is probably a pivotal factor.

Let me turn this to an open question:

Why are so many Northern cities in the UK closer to the bankruptcy example of Detroit, rather than the renaissance example of Chicago?

Any thoughts?
