I usually find that I do not agree with Polly Toynbee but on this occassion, I think that she has hit the nail on the head.

The Coalition government‘s economic policies are an omni-shambles yet they are always first to wield the stiletto on the last government’s economic record. Incidentally, Simon Wren-Lewis, the Oxford economist, in an independently reviewed paper has proved the Coalition government wrong about Labour’s economic management.

Any thoughts?

This is an excellent, MUST READ, article by leading, Oxford economist, Simon Wren-Lewis, writing in his Mainly Macro blog.

via mainly macro: Labour’s OBR Proposal.

Wren-Lewis opens up the myths surrounding both the Labour and current UK coalition government‘s economic policies.

Strengthening the remit of the OBR makes good sense. It would help the electorate to have all manifesto proposed policies independently costed and risk assessed.

For me, there is still enormous risk in the economic policies of David Cameron’s government.

Any thoughts?
