This truly depressing article in the Telegraph is a MUST READ. Check it out!

Cancer in britain lags far behind European average – Telegraph.

Once again, the the UK’s public healthcare system, the NHS must take the blame. Under the last Labour Government, huge increases in spending in the NHS as a percentage of GDP were squandered on higher salaries. Meanwhile, the current Coalition Government, with excessive austerity, has brought the NHS to its knees.

Right the way across David Cameron’s Government policy has been ideologically based, rather than evidence-based policy. The study cited in in the Telegraph article confirms, with hard-evidence from a massive European sample, that the the UK has one of the worst records in Europe for cancer survival; the problem starts with late diagnosis but the quality of treatment is also an issue.

Regular readers of this blog will know that I favor abandoning the NHS and replacing it with a new UK public healthcare system based on best-practice in countries like Germany, France and Italy.

Surely, it is obvious that the NHS itself is cancer ridden with inefficiency and ineffectiveness – in short, it is beyond reform?

Any thoughts?
