Personally, as a financial specialist, I think that all the downside is priced in for Cyprus. Much more interesting is the potential upside, leveraging Cyprus’ offshore oil and gas reserves. The Mediterranean has once again become pivotal in global geopolitics, with Russia keen to be invested in the area but the US preferring to kept Russia out, and favouring European investment. Meanwhile, with record numbers unemployed and EU politicians on the ropes, strategic investment in Europe is slow to find the mark. But I still think that the EU needs an effective energy policy and that surely must capitalize upon Cyprus’ strategic assets?
