I was able to identify with much of the argument in this article. But where it departed from prevailing views in Western media was in relation to the US & the UK. The article holds the US/UK responsible for the situation in Iraq and maintains that both countries must clean up the mess.

Let me turn this to an open question:

Does the US and the UK have a moral responsibility to remove ISIL?

via Britain denied key EU role for not picking a woman – Telegraph.

Clearly, Jean-Claude Juncker, the new head of the European Commission is trying to demonstrate his leadership skills, but he seems rather light on diplomacy and influencing.

Surely, it’s time for the European Commission to be run by professionals with relevant experience? For example look at energy at the EC which is run by a French bureaucrat with the wrong skill-set.

Europe is at risk because of its ineffective leadership.
