Some may think that this bad luck or just a risk management issue.

But for John Gelmini and myself, the markers are clear, there is an absence of an effective energy strategy in Europe. It’s Europe that does not have the strategy but the lights will go off in the UK!

By the way, nuclear safety regulation is a large department at the European Commission’s Energy Directorate. Surely, you’re not surprised?

Once again, we are back to strategy. David Cameron’s government must have a clear strategy in its dealings with all manner of interventions. See my blog entitled Abuse of Strategy and John Gelmini’s excellent response which I reblogged.

Once again, the ECB cannot introduce proper QE, like the US, the UK or Japan – this is because of an effective veto from Germany.

So there are only a limited number of scenarios for Euroland:

  1. Continued meddling through, leading to prolonged deflation and Japan disease.
  2. A speculative crisis, which will trigger real QE as an emergency measure
  3. A speculative crisis that will lead to the breakup of the Euro
