This article brings home once again that the Scottish Nationalists do not have an effective strategy for an independent Scotland. As one respondent to an earlier blog commented, “It’s like the Pied Piper of Hamelin“. Let’s hope that the Scottish people come out of the spell before Thursday!

Simply, large numbers of Scottish people will lose their jobs and possibly their savings, with questionable banks. Independent Scotland will quickly plunge into depression and struggle to maintain public services at current levels; those on benefits could quickly be targeted for savage cuts. Scotland will become like the Philippines, a large exporter of people (once again – see John Gelmini’s point). Sadly, independent Scotland will be increasingly dependent upon monthly remittances from guest workers who have gone overseas, where the grass is greener.
