This is an important must-read story from the Sydney Morning Herald. Check it out!
Without Turkey’s active participation, Obama‘s so-called “strategy” for ISIS already looks to be at risk. Obama’s strategy speech was not well received in the Middle East, where many believe that the US is responsible for ISIS, after premature departure of US troops from Iraq.
Elsewhere in the news, we can see that the Iraqi government is restricting US bombing of civilian areas, including ISIS controlled towns.
Meanwhile, hours ago ISIS has released details of the beheading of the British hostage, a former aide-worker. The World will be looking for an effective response.
Let me raise some open questions:
- Is Obama’s current “strategy for defeating ISIS” already destined for failure?
- Surely, the only viable strategy is for the US to take the gloves off and deploy America’s full military capability, including ground troops?
