via Turkey clashes with US over rise of ISIS – FT.com.
Obama‘s policy for challenging ISIS seems to be dependent upon an alliance of Middle Eastern countries who until recently have been financing the terrorists. Also Turkey, historically a strategic NATO ally, has foreign policy objectives different to the US.
Once again, Obama is pussy-footing around with US public opinion. It’s obvious that the only effective solution is coalition boots on the ground, including from Western countries. Sooner or later, the US will realize that ISIS is a similar threat to the US that Hamas has been to Israel. Ultimately, Israel was forced to send ground forces into Gaza to bomb the tunnels.
Let me ask an open question:
Surely, eventually the US must deploy ground forces to go after ISIS?
Thoughts?
