Opinion – Charity Warning Over Rise In UK Child Poverty – MSN News – John Gelmini

Dr Alf is right.

Child poverty is a function of an increasingly two-tier economy, whereby those at the bottom are placed on zero hours contracts or part time contracts, with the power for the employer to “stand people down”.

Below these people are benefit recipients, some of whom get Working Tax Credits and Housing Benefit or are on the old incapacity benefit plus Housing Benefit.

Then there are allegedly 5 to 7 million illegal immigrants, who work in the Black Economy or for Agricultural Gang-masters. Some of these people have additional purchased NI numbers (there are 19 million spare numbers over and above the numbers of people in the official workforce which are traded in sleazy pubs). This allows them to work and claim benefits under different aliases but never earning enough to be truly self-sufficient. The children of such people are impoverished because of these factors and the chaotic behavior and poor budgeting skills of people who fathered them and in many cases abandoned them.

In other cases the family dog (frequently a Tozer or Rottweiler) is extremely well fed and looked after in a household boasting a £1000 gbp flat screen television, a refrigerator full of cheap beer and people who fail to get up until Jeremy Kyle appears on his sleazy program and starts to insult the serial cheaters, ”players” and verminous scoundrels who he gets to appear on his show.

The children often do not get breakfast as I know from friends who teach in State Schools and have to buy these unfortunates their first meal of the day.

The Government claims great success in its policies to reduce benefit fraud and create jobs but much of the success is hollow and manufactured by statistical manipulation (1 million benefit recipients have been “sanctioned” by the DWP so they are counted as employed).

1 million workers in local authorities and the NHS now work for outsourcers, even though they are still doing the same jobs as before.

Those who have given up looking for work (about 8 million people) are counted as economically inactive so do not appear in the unemployment figures.

There are other anomalies but, of course children, cannot be wished away in the same way benefit recipients are.

Rosneft offers Putin program of massive sanctions against the West – English pravda.ru

This is currently the most-read article from Pravda, Russia’s popular newspaper. It’s a recommended read. Check it out!

via Rosneft offers Putin program of massive sanctions against the West – English pravda.ru.

Let me give you a flavor:

According to the source of the newspaper, Rosneft proposes to switch the supplies of Russian natural gas to Europe to payment in advance mode. Officials with the oil company believe that such a move would improve Gazprom‘s economy to the detriment of European buyers of the Russian gas.

Personally, I think that this article is designed to throw red meat to the Russian masses who are looking to a hard winter on the back of international sanctions.

Retaliatory sanctions from Russia would seriously escalate the current crisis. Perhaps, it’s a bluff to bring concessions from the West? It’s hard to imagine Europe’s banks being able to finance payment in advance for Russia’s gas?

Thoughts?
