There is breaking news of another major offshore gas-field in the Eastern Mediterranean reported by Haaretz, the Israeli newspaper check it out!
via Major new gas find off Israel’s Mediterranean coast – Business Israel News | Haaretz.
As I look out over the Mediterranean Sea this sunny morning, I reflect on the implications for Cyprus where I live.
Firstly, another major find on the Israeli side of the international boundary at sea increases the chances of another find on the Cyprus side of the boundary.
Secondly, the bigger the gas finds in the Eastern Mediterranean, the more likelihood of an offshore pipeline funded by the European Commission, from Israel and Egypt to Greece via Cyprus.
Thirdly, good news in the Eastern Mediterranean will probably attract other investors to Cyprus which has a long history of serving foreign business investments.
