As I considered the implications, my mind focused on the European Commission and the missed opportunities for investment that would get people back to work.

In my mind, China has a very clear strategy for increasing trade and investment in Europe. There is a vision, a plan and top-quality execution.

Meanwhile, Europe is indecisive or takes the wrong decisions, like austerity. Belatedly the European Commission is looking at serious investment.

The other hidden agenda in this story is a new trading route between China and Europe that is less dependent upon Russia.

Let me ask an open question:

How should the European Commission facilitate Chinese inward investment to mutual gain?
