Whilst I do not agree with Ed Balls politics, I think that he has a better grasp of economics than UK Chancellor, George Osborne.
Balls is right to raise the issue of health charging under the Tories. In my view, it is time for the Tories to invite a public debate on this issue. What should be included free of charge in public healthcare? What should be excluded? Why should taxpayers pay for the Saturday night drunks?
Regular readers of this blog know that I believe that the NHS should be scrapped and replaced with a best-practice public healthcare system, based on the World’s best, like Singapore and Italy. I argue for scrapping because the NHS is beyond reform, with too many powerful vested interests.
