Regular readers of this blog will know that I have long been critical of the Coalition government’s record on the NHS. But let’s be honest, the previous Labour government squandered a fortune on pay raises in the UK public sector, rather than focusing on strategic priorities.

John Gelmini and myself have repeatedly argued for the dismantling of the NHS and replacing it with a best-practice public healthcare system, based upon the World’s best exemplars.

It’s no surprise that major consultancies are in bed with government ministers but it seems that the consultancies are hedging their bets on a future Labour Government. Minister spend GBP5,000 a day for top consultants, so the consultancies can afford to offer a few freebies.

Personally, I think that this type of cronyism is not in the public interest and I congratulate Margaret Hodge for blasting PwC.
