The Conservatives started the election campaign, lining up five ministers to suppress Ed Balls, the Shadow Chancellor. The Conservatives have been strong on smoke and mirrors, and light on strategy, tending to blow with the wind on policy. Ultimately, the election will be won or lost on the strength of negative campaigning, and I fear that the dirt is just beginning to come to the surface. The mainstream media must increasingly stand up and be counted.
