Dr Alf raises an important point but despite Japan’s history,its present economic situation and its gradual eclipse by China,Abe still attends shrines dedicated to war criminals and thinks that he can do whatever he likes because America will protect Japan.
He is a man who makes too many assumptions about what others will do which may or may not be true based on prevailing circumstances.
He has already been told by the Chinese that “There cannot be 2 suns in the sky” and is not prepared to accept that reality.
Chancellor Merkel gave him good advice but rapprochement,facing reality and acknowledging Japan’s pariah role seems beyond him.
