After making some disastrous blunders, Cameron was advised how to deal with China and seemed to stick to his lines. In short, Cameron wanted China’s money for investment and in return China wanted to test the US relationship. Recently, we have seen that the US is getting twitchy about the UK’s relationship with China. Also in terms of status, China’s leader met the Queen.
Personally, with President Obama’s foreign policy, I think that David Cameron was right to reach out to China.
