As I read the article, my mind switched to the UK and I pondered the issues of growing student debt ahead of the UK’s national election.

Under the Labour governments of Blair and Brown, there was a massive increase in the numbers going to university,  in the UK. In order to finance the growing student population, governments, including the current coalition of the Conservative and Liberal Parties, have been forced to make universities charge more for their services. The result has been a massive expansion in student debt in the UK.

I wonder about the arrears and potential default status of student loans in the UK?

I also speculate that university education should be free for a smaller number?

Personally, I think that GOP have won a major victory in ensuring that Obama‘s Iran proposals are properly debated in Congress. Meanwhile, the White House talks of concessions on the Iran Bill that make it more acceptable.

In this blog, I have been been consistently uncomfortable with Obama’s tactics on his negotiations with Iran. I have also been troubled by Kerry’s behavior. So for me, it is very good news that the Iran Bill will now get proper and effective scrutiny in Congress.
