With billions of Dollars already wiped off major stock markets, in response to the ‘no vote’, it’s now decision-time for Germany’s Angela Merkel. As the NYT article highlights, the options are all deeply flawed.

  1. As Dr Alf says this no vote will be a huge challenge for Europe because the creditors to Greece are wedded to the concept of a United States of Europe almost at any price.

    Tsipras knows that and will doubtless get some money.

    Angela Merkel is logical and is applying her training as a nuclear physicist to people who do not think in that way and who are into playing silly games.

    This play has more scenes to run but I do not fear the possibility of Greece falling under Vladimir Putin’s spell.
