Dr Alf is right to question the negotiating tactics of the Troika.

If you continue to negotiate the word “final” is meaningless.

People need hope so a better tactic to concentrate Greek minds or anyone elses is to take a decision, in this case expelling Greece from the Euro, expelling it from the EU but putting them on notice that the door is open and that following reform at a fast but reasonable pace they can rejoin.

The current debts should be written-off as un-collectable but there should not be much of a new bailout, just a one-off, small enough not to anger the Irish and others who followed the rules and “bit the bullet”.

There are already rumors of a German/American sponsored coup in the offing, on the internet, with the Greek Army, the shipping magnates, all allegedly acting in concert, to topple the Tsipras regime, to prevent it falling into the clutches of Vladimir Putin’s Russia.

At last, it looks like both sides are making serious concessions.

Bookmakers and financial markets seem to be optimistic of a deal ahead of the final deadline.

Thoughts?
