According to Washington newspaper The Hill, President Obama is poised for a major diplomatic victory on the Iran nuclear deal when Congress returns to Washington next week.

This an amazing read, providing behind the scenes view of American politics.

I was also interested to read that Dick Cheney, the former vice president, ‘called the agreement a “train wreck” and is planning to give a speech denouncing the deal at the hawkish American Enterprise Institute on Tuesday’. It will interesting to read a transcrift of Cheney’s speech.

Personally, I’m deeply uncomfortable with the proposed Iran deal. For me, President Obama’s foreign policy record has been a disaster, and I have no confidence that the Iran deal will change matters.

The UK’s Telegraph article focuses on Russian president talking of desire for “international coalition” to fight terrorism and extremism and does not rule out possibility of direct military intervention in Syria.

This seems to be one of the most important news stories at the moment. The NYT has already posted.

Personally, I think that it’s time to try another UN Security Council Resolution to address Syria.
