The left-wing Guardian nespaper reports that UK shadow defence secretary and frontbench colleagues attack Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn for saying he would never use nuclear weapons if prime minister.
Personally, I’m convinced that Corbynism will increasingly be shown to be flaky over the coming months. Unfortunately, hard-left supporters who put Corbyn in power are not interested in rational argument about policy – for them it’s about rhetoric and shouting down effective debate.
It will be interesting to see if the moderates in the Labour Party can regroup effectively?
Jeremy Corbyn has already backtracked on tuition fees, is wearing suits and ties and in his conference speech did not refer once to the drubbing Labour received at the hands of the public during the General Election.
Allowing everyone into the tent and saying you are an activist is great fun for Labour party conferences but when the chips are down the public make hard-headed choices related to their wallets.
If Corbyn wants power he will have to play the game or find that those he thinks he can talk nicely to are likely to stab him in the back.
