The Japan Times reports that Nissan Motor Co. will launch a car with self-driving technologies in Japan in 2016, according to the automaker‘s CEO, Carlos Ghosn.

This is good news for Japan’s industry on a day when it has lost a major high-speed railway contract to China. 

Yes, Japan is still leading in many areas of technology but Japan’s industry is losing out because Japan as a country is slow to implement strategic change. Japan must open her industry and labour markets to international competition. Otherwise China will take the cream.
