According to this interesting article, ex-Greek chancellor, Yanis Varoufakis, issued a strong warning to Jeremy Corbyn on Friday, advising the new Labour leader to move on from discussing his opposition to austerity.
Personally, I think that Corbyn needs some top class economic advice and I believe he has consulted some renowned economists. BUT I do not rate Yanis Varoufakis as a top-class economist, nor a particularly succesful finance minister. Varoufakis claim to fame is probably his arrogence. He’s a fine hard-left politician but married to a wealthy woman.
On the subject of austerity, the young Trudeau’s win in Canada has shown that there is still room for anti-austerity politics.
