According to this highly cited story from Reuters, a Russian airliner carrying 224 passengers and crew crashed in Egypt’s Sinai peninsula on Saturday after losing radar contact and plummeting from its cruising altitude, killing all aboard.

Egypt has agreed that Russian official can participate in the crash investigation.

A number of news agencies are reporting ISIS affiliates in Egypt claiming responsibility. It’s too early to speculate on the cause of the crash. However, the crash will  draw focus on Russia’s recent involvement in Syria.

Our thoughts are with those who have tragically lost their lives in this disaster and their families.
