The NYT reports that Prime Minister, David Cameron announced the suspension of all flights between Britain and the Egyptian resort of Sharm el Sheikh.

The article cites US sources hinting that Cameron’s decision was premature. Internationally, many question the effectiveness of Obama’s interventions in both Syria and Iraq.

Personally, I think that David Cameron acted responsibly in the interests of UK citizens. According to an NBC article there appear to be security concerns at the Sharm el Sheikh airport, where a number of staff have been removed.

Whilst David Cameron may have precipitated matters, focus will now turn to Russia and for Putin’s response. Today this blog  looks at two very different responses from Russia’s media, in Pravda and TASS.

Why does David Cameron not propose a resolution at the UN Security Council?

Thoughts?

One response

  1. David Cameron had no choice because the weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth would have been deafening had he not taken the action he did and ISIS was to have blown up British holidaymakers in some new atrocity.
The action by David Cameron was, therefore, sensible as Dr Alf has said even though the Egyptian government does not want its tourist industry damaged.
The lesson here is that we are not doing enough to eradicate ISIS and its financial backers in the Gulf States and we are not doing enough in Europe and the UK to bear down on radicalised and troublesome Muslims in our midst.
