Russia is now raising huge questions about Turkey’s foreign policy. According to a leading Russian news agency, some Turkish officials have ‘direct financial interest’ in the oil trade with the terrorist group Islamic State, citing Russian PM Dmitry Medvedev in Russian retaliation to Turkey’s downing of a Russian warplane in Syria on Tuesday.

Of course, Turkey is a member of NATO and President Obama seems to have no influence over Turkey.

It raises questions about America’s foreign policy too.  Obama can get into bed with Iran and Turkey but seems to always have strong words for Israel – surely something’s wrong big time?

  1. Dr Alf makes interesting points, but America does have influence over Turkey, which sent troops to fight with it during the Korean War and provides America with basing rights at the massive Airforce base at Incirlik.

Turkey has been allegedly providing logistical support to ISIS via hospitals where Turkish doctors and nurses treat injured fighters prior to letting them through the border to return to the fray. Turkey has been doing that for at least a year before the downing of the Russian fighters.

ISIS has been stealing oil and mixing it with Iraqi oil for some time, so motorists and van drivers in the UK and Europe buy quite a lot of it without knowing. The rest goes into Turkey and has been doing so for some time and certainly for longer than the period between Medvedev’s comments on RT and now.

We are expected to believe that the Americans, who in 1989 could read the writing on Russian soldiers epaulettes from space, are unaware of this and somehow kept it from Obama and his Administration.

Obama is a sorry excuse for an American President and “Leader of the Free World”; he has a double and triple agenda and is thoroughly untrustworthy. In President Erdogan of Turkey, he has found someone, even more cunning and duplicitous than he is. Turkey, a country not known for Ministerial probity, does not rank highly on the UN “Global Corruption Index”, so it is likely that as ISIS oil goes into Turkey some of the proceeds from its sale stick to the fingers of Erdogan’s Ministers, as Medvedev seems to be implying.
