By tomorrow we shall know whether France has woken up or on a potentially dangerous journey with the Front National.

The Guardian reports that Osborne’s proposal to fund social care through council tax rise will be inadequate and lead to polarised care, citing a well-known think-tank.

Whilst I have different political views to the Guardian, I very much identify with the risks cited in this story. It’s already a crisis but factor in recent ONS projections that we’ll be living to a hundred, and the story becomes deeply alarming.

For me and my colleague John Gelmini, there’s still massive opportunity for radical reform to the UK public healthcare system. This was highlighted the other day by the Adam Smith Institute. The problem is with the political leadership – they lack the stomach for effective policy delivery.
