The NYT reports that as the kingdom prepares to greet the president, it faces low oil prices, rising Iranian influence and fears of a widening rift with the United States.

Of course, Saudi Arabia is deeply critical of Obama’s policy to Iran.

Obama’s foreign policy has unsettled relationships with traditional allies in the Middle East, including both Israel and Saudi Arabia.

It’s hard to see how Obama can improve matters in his remaining months but he can still do further damage.
