This is a must-read article published by the Institute for New Economic Thinking. It argues that everywhere, so it seems, right-wing populists are feeling the wind in their sails. Contrary to common belief, this shift is not so much caused by the refugee crisis, but rather by the historical disaster that followed the big financial crisis since 2007.
The article is directly relevant to the Brexit referendum where the ‘Out’ supporters are promoting fear of increased immigration rather than defend the credibility of their economic case.
