This is a must read from the Independent. Tory MP, Nadine Fox describes how David Cameron will be “toast within days” if Britain votes to leave the European Union, as she called for a vote of no confidence in the Prime Minister live on television.
There are a number of important implications from this article.
Firstly, the Brexit team seem to be throwing in the towel and accept that Remain will win the referendum.
Secondly, Nadine Fox highlights how the Brexit MPs will not accept the results of the referendum as representing the UK people.
Thirdly, they reject David Cameron’s political mandate from the last election.
Fourthly, as poor losers, they want to bring the Conservative government down by precipitating a national election.
Regular readers of this blog will know that I am no great supporter of the Cameron/Osborne partnership. There has been ineffective leadership and absence of strategy.
However, I reject Conservative MPs, like Ms Fox, as being too ready to damage the UK economically and politically in their quest for power. Ms Fox and her colleagues will probably precipitate the first left-wing Labour government in forty years.
Surely the Brexit MPs should resign after Remain win, or perhaps they should defect to UKIP?
Thoughts?
