Citing latest research, NPR reports that people who have positive images of aging and have a purpose in life live years longer than those who are negative. Also they also have less risk of stroke and Alzheimer’s disease.

Whilst this is a one off research finding, I can easily identify with the conclusions.

I have long been a believer in positive thinking and this applies to the elderly just as much as those in their twenties and thirties.

On a personal basis, I can relate to this research too. I’m an expat, living in Cyprus, and many of the expats there are strong advocates of a positive image of aging. Whereas, I’m currently visiting the UK and notice friends and acquaintances with a less  positive image of aging. Perhaps, the weather is a factor too?

Any thoughts?
