The Washington Post claims that Trump’s dog-whistling on whether Obama is Muslim may have helped in the primaries but questions whether these tactics will help now?
There’s no doubt that many of Trump’s core supporters are right-wing populists. However, Trump needs to widen his appeal to capture the Republican majority. Otherwise, surely many GOP supporters will turn to Clinton as a protest vote?

It is too late for Donald Trump to “widen his appeal” as Dr Alf suggests because the result of the election was predetermined 2 years ago when the CFR which Hillary Clinton sits decided that she would be the next President. The present election campaign is little more than a multi act Pantomime with Donald Trump playing the part of a villain to be vanquished.
