Tory leadership contest: Andrea Leadsom named ‘worst Treasury minister ever’ | UK Politics | News | The Independent

The Independent reports that Andrea Leadsom is facing new scrutiny over her political background after she emerged as a serious contender to challenge Theresa May for the Conservative Party leadership. Though Ms Leadsom was a leading light in arguing for Brexit during the EU referendum campaign, she has faced criticism over her lack of experience at the highest level of government. Unlike all of her rivals in the Tory leadership contest, Ms Leadsom has never held a cabinet-level ministerial position. But most importantly her period at the Treasury apparently went very badly too.

Leadsom is a political lightweight, accused of doctoring her CV and underhand in her dealings – all she talks about is ‘being a mum’.

Brexit: a coup by one set of public schoolboys against another — FT.com

For a long time over breakfast my wife and I debated Cameron and Osborne’s latest revelations. We’re both conservative in our political views but were never quite comfortable with this duo. We often used to conclude that they were in it for a laugh, a public school prank – they were far removed from the pressures of ordinary people’s lives. We noted that despite very little experience doors and opportunities open for the privileged.

Clearly, Cameron, Osborne, Johnson, Gove and Farage never expected the Brexit vote to be passed – after all nobody had a plan for Brexit. Now the UK is in meltdown because of the uncertainty unleashed.

This, of course, plays into the hands of Jeremy Corbyn and other far-left politicians in the UK.
