This article by the WEF, citing a recent research study is seriously misleading. The article claims that the stereotypes of millennials as lazy, work-shy narcissists couldn’t be further from the truth.

Personally, I struggle with this sort of survey being representative, no matter the size of the sample.

To be more meaningful we needs insights into the following variables:

  • Age
  • Income
  • Occupation
  • Location
  • Accomodation, home owner, rented property, shared property, living with parents
  • Race/ethnicity
  • Highest level of education
  • Private/public education
  • Country of birth
  • Occupation of parents

When we consider the sub-variables, in order to be statistical significant it is likely that a much larger sample is required.

Also I’d like to see the full research methodology.

My conclusion is that this article is headline grabbing from an ambitious editor.

I would prefer to see qualitative research perhaps identifying millennial archetypes.

Keith Vaz stands down from his role as chair of the Home Affairs Select Committee as he faces questioning by MPs in wake of rent boys scandal – Telegraph

The Telegraph reports that Labour MP, Keith Vaz, has quit as Chair of the Home Affairs Select Committee.

It’s not enough to say what MPs do in private is private – this is especially so for ministers and influential members of select committees.

Not only has Vaz destroyed his own career, he has brought the Labour Party into disrepute. At a time when the far-left and far-right are suppressing the truth and behaving like the end justifies the means, there’s an urgent need for politicians of the center to defend normality – rent boys are not normal, at least not yet.

What ever happened to morality?
