Read first hand one of the most highly cited political articles of the week in the New Yorker. The new White House communications director has threatened to fire the entire communications staff suspecting a leak about Trump’s dinner guests.
The conversation could have been straight out of a political drama soap opera or from a ‘Godfather’ type film.
But no, this story gives us a glimpse of Trump’s leadership style. He creates powerful fiefdoms and then fires the fiefs when they get too much power.
This week we have seen the Republicans divided about Obamacare, yet another defeat for Trump. It’s not clear if Trump will have political support to reform taxes. Meanwhile, foreign affairs and defense looks high risk with Trump in charge. To deflect media frenzy, Trump was also controversial in his announcement that transgender people should not be allowed in the US military.
Meanwhile, Trump’s impeachment or resignation seems no more than speculation for the moment, so we can expect more ‘Tweet’ wars next week.
