Opinion – ‘It’s essential to life’: Ofwat’s Rachel Fletcher sets a new course for water – via the Guardian

Social contracts‘ proposed in this article are for the birds. In a fashionable term, it’s ‘highly nebulous’! A Far-Left Labour will try to re-nationalize public utilities, financial constraints permitting. A Conservative government needs to look to populism for the way forward. Across Europe people are distrustful of elites and experts. ‘Ordinary people’ know about UK former nationalized industries, their costs and their service/quality levels. I totally disagree with this op-ed Guardian article by Ofwat’s, Rachel Fletcher. A Conservative Government needs a radical change agenda for public services – the best place to start is to fire the regular and start again with ‘zero based design’. For another industry, consider British Air Transport, with their Third World quality/service levels, but lots of status quo cost-plus facilities – fundamentally wrong in  oligopolies.  Thoughts?
