There are many people in Europe who do not want Turkey as an EU member and who like me think that President Erdogan cannot be trusted further than he can be thrown. Doubtless, there are groups in Germany who do not want Turkey in the EU and who would want matters delayed until the year 3000, the date David Cameron quoted.

Dr Alf says that he wonders whether more migrants will come to Germany and Europe before the end of this year and the German elections next year but I do not wonder at all because as we can see already, migrants somehow manage to travel from Egypt and Libya rather than Turkey and Turkish border guards can be bribed for less than £100 GBP to let refugees and economic migrants loose.

Turkey can take in migrants, be seen to comply with the letter of Merkel’s migrant deal but still circumvent it whilst holding out her hand for £6 billion GBP a year and EU membership. In this regard she has conned the EU leadership and is trying to fool the rest of us.

Turning now to Erdogan’s answers to specific points, the Armenian genocide of three million people was conducted by soldiers of the Ottoman Empire who made the Armenians march over hostile terrain without food or shelter much like the US cavalry did to the Red Indians forced off their land at gunpoint during what they described as the “March of tears”. Along the way the Turks would set fire to Armenian families and make them dance until they burned to death whilst being watched by cheering crowds. In the end some 3 million Armenians perished leaving hardly any of them alive.

Erdogan says he is fighting ISIS when in fact his doctors are allegedly treating ISIS fighters, his nurses are nursing them back to health, and his son is reportedly engaged in oil smuggling ISIS oil which provides them additional funding.

Erdogan clearly dreams of founding a new Ottoman Empire using EU taxpayers money; he has the golden palace already and now dreams of a new “Salafist Principality” free of Kurds, Iranians and stretching into Northern China to the East and with a growing presence in the EU.

This is an excellent, must-read article from the NYT. The article explores the political fall out after the German Parliament voted to recognize Armenian genocide. It reports that the Turkish government angrily denounced the vote as “null and void” and recalled its ambassador.

Germany’s deal with Turkey to restrict refugees reaching Germany has been widely criticized around the world. But the vote on Armenian genocide will have the reverse affect and people will again admire modern Germany. Of course, the two votes are not unrelated. It is likely that the Armenian vote could trigger a negative political reaction from Turkey.
